Getting There and Getting Around
The closest major international airport is SAN (San Diego International Airport). For those arriving at SAN, we recommend getting downtown to the hotel by ride share or public transportation if possible. Parking is scarce in downtown San Diego, so a rental car is best left at the airport.
San Diego and the Gaslamp District especially are very foot-traffic friendly and we encourage you to 'get your steps in' around town and sight-see in the historic district. There are also plenty of alternate forms of transportation in the area including Uber, Lyft and local taxi services. To get to the more distant parts of San Diego there's SDMTS!
The conference venue is fully ADA compliant as is the conference hotel. For transportation options to/from the hotel please contact Julie Fooshee at email@example.com. We will be happy to schedule you alternate means of transportation to the event venue should you be unable to walk there or to any other conference space.
This year we are excited to have Hotel Indigo as our official conference hotel! While the official block is closed, there may still be rooms available! Book online or by calling the main reservations line to stay at this amazing property only a short walk to the conference venue!
There are ADA rooms available however we ask that you call the hotel to book these with the special rate. For additional help with this please don't hesitate to reach out to Julie Fooshee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Balboa Park is a beautiful local landmark that is north of the conference area but worth a visit if you have the time! Inside you'll find lush gardens, incredible museums, and many of San Diego's hidden gems.
You may notice a little baseball stadium from the hotel rooftop bar and that would be Petco Park where the San Diego Padres play! Take a moment to walk down and around in the lovely San Diego summer and maybe even catch a game! Petco Park is where the expo for the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering takes place each year!
You may need an uber to get there, but the USS Midway is a decommissioned aircraft carrier parked on San Diego's water front and now open as a maritime museum and events space! If you're scoping out creative venue ideas, this one is a must see.
